About Kaunas region

Kaunas region is the third largest region by the area covered, it is subdivided into eight municipalities of Birštonas, kaunas city, Jonava district, Kaišiadorys district, Kaunas district, Kėdainiai district, Prienai district and Raseiniai district. Its population amounts to one-fifth of Lithuania’s total population. Besides, the residents of the region belong to all four ethnographic regions: Aukštaitija, Dzūkija, Suvalkija and Žemaitija.
